fuel mileage question
i seem to remember reading somewhere that wankels consume less fuel per minute of operation at 2.5k rpm than they do at idle. any truth to this?
I think there are variables, like ambient temperature and etc., but on the highway, I seem to get my best mileage at about 3500 rpm.
I wonder how 3500 rpm consumption compares to idle..

The simple answer is no. On an hourly consumption basis my 12a uses about 2.6gal.per hour while highway cruising, and less than 1.0gph at idle. Used round town its 2.0gph but you only go third of the distance per hour compared with cruising!
The optimal performance in terms of time/distance/consumption appears to be about 3,000rpm just before the secondaries start opening.
