Fuel line: how much hose do i need from tank to pump?

I really need to replace my fuel lines under the car (tank until hard line after pump), but unfortunately it has been raining hard all day here. I was wondering if anyone know about how much I would need to pick up so I wouldn't have to lie in a puddle for a while figuring it out.

Thanks

Speaking of fuel line, I have been contimplating replacing my hard lines and moving up to 3/8". What is the oppinion of the masses? I would be doing this to ensure addequit fuel flow under boost (blow through turbo) I do not currently have any problems, so it is not a matter of neccessity, more of a CYA. Comments are welcome.
