Fuel Light Staying On

Just got through reinstalling the tank after having it professionally cleaned. All fuel lines and vapor lines are not pinched. Fuel light will not go out. I've got 10 gallons in it and the gauge reads half a tank. Why is the light staying on?

I might add, when I got to the gas station and removed the gas cap it seemed to let out a little pressure. Didn't do that before.

Low fuel sensor is a probe built into the inside of your tank sender unit; looks like a little metal can on the end of a stick. If it's not connected properly or got damaged during cleaning, it reads open which turns on the light.

Did you take the sender out before having the tank cleaned? If yes, did it get reinstalled in the correct orientation, and reconnected properly? If no, it may have been damaged during cleaning.

I thought it was a short that turned the light on?... but in any case it could easily be a chaffed or broken wire instead of the sensor. My wiring corroded off due to the wonderful NY salted roads in the winter.

Well, yes it was removed but I noticed that the first time I pulled it the sender had to be cleaned, lubed and moved around a little to start working after sitting for three years. It may have been a little stiff after sitting for a week while the tank was being cleaned because this morning it was off. I'll keep an eye on it, but for know, all seems ok. Thanks guys!!
