Fuel level sender

Can someone tell me what direction the plug is supposed to face? Towards the front, rear, side? I replaced mine today, but the guage says full, and i'm pretty sure its not full.

It is only a two prong plug to the tank.

I don't think that the fuel sending unit will read wrong no matter which way the plug points.

Make sure that the fuel sending unit is free and not bonking into anything in the gas tank.

Can you elaborate more?

well right now the prongs are pointing to the front of the car.

Is there any way you can snap a pic that's zoomed out more so I can see how it points in relation to the whole tank?

Prongs are pointing to about the 7 or 8 o'clock position.
