i found it....jesus freakin christ....it as awful....literally, the inside of the filter element was FILLED with rust, FILLED...not containing, FILLED....i guess that wasnt helping my high rpm stalling out any..i still need to know where the idle adjustment is
does anyone know how he checked the fuel filter for rust...cuz the fuel filter that iu saw on a civic was like steel on the outside and wen i took it off all i could tell was that some fuel came out....how do u know if ur fuel filter is dirty or not?
You cut the filter open.. I usually use a hacksaw and towards the inlet end of the filter. You'll be able to tell the shavings from your cut against the rusty metal from the tank pretty easily...

Yeah, the stock ones on the cars are usually a semi-transparent white plastic and you can see the brownish sludge looking junk in them.
As for the idle, all I can say is follow the Haynes manual. If you dont have one, get one.

thanks man....yeah it was really nasty....i cut mine open with a knife....it was really bad.....im fixing to get the manual....there are many many small things i need to do...it would be nice to have the guidebook so i wouldnt have to ask simpleton questions
If you want a REALLY good "guide book" - get the Mazda Shop manual for your year. You can find them on the web, and sometimes eBay. I got my for $15. I think they're much more specific, mention special tools needed for the job and they have a lot more exploded views...
Yes, ther is NO replacement for the factory service manual.. for many problems there are invaluable and the wiring diagrams are actually right. But I think I'll hold onto both of my '85 FSM's anyways...
