Front Brake Caliper

My front passenger side caliper wont release. It isn't frozen. I took it off and pushed on the brake pedal and it came out. I pushed it back in with a c-clamp and re-mounted. First time I hit my brakes it squeezed the rotors but it wouldn't release again.

If I get a rebuild kit will that solve the problem? Or is there something I can do without using a rebuild kit?

Do rebuilding them usually work or is it just better to buy a new caliper from Rock Auto? Is one brand better than another?

you may just want to do the master cylinder and do a air pressure blow out of the system.

When your caliper does this corrosion is the key factor this can be caused with water in the break system.

Just make sure you clean it out really good befor you put new calipers in.

THIS GOES FOR EVERYONE, CHANGE YOU BREAK FLUID ONCE A YEAR!!!!
It is just like you engine oil it will break down after time to avoid damage like this guys do a full flush once a year!

Rebuilding it is not that hard, you can get a rebuilt if you don't feel that comfortable.

And yes, replace your brake fluid at least once a year, it is hygroscopic and will absorb water overtime and break down causing corrosion and poor braking performance.

I'll try the rebuild. Nothing looks corroded so I'm not sure why it doesn't work in the first place.

This is a car I just picked up. I always make sure I get brake fluid changed in my vehicles about every 2-3 years. Good advice.
