Do NOT bypass your fuel filter underneath the car. Your pump will get contaminants in it and go bad. Especially from a rusted out tank like mine.
I normally get puralator or deutsch (can't spell). They work pretty well. Just watch out for that dang rust...

I just grabbed one that the local rotary guy recommended... can't remember the name and can't be bothered to jack up the car and check.. But it was like 4$ and it was all metal cylindrical thing with input/output on either end (as opposed to the original which was plastic with both in/out on the top)... Sorry, I guess this really dones't help :S Just don't go with FRAM.. I've heard nothing but bad about their fuel and oil filters

Fram's fuel filters have worked great for me. Replaced it every few years just to be sure I have a fresh one under there. I like the clear plastic ones so I can see what's in there and make sure fuel is getting to the filter at least. Fram G-12 memory serving me right.

Also have one of the glass Purolator in-line fuel filters before the carb. I can see fuel run thru it and see contaminants.

I do not buy Fram oil filters anymore. JUNK.

I used to run fram oil filters; I can tell you Duetche is better than fram and Duetche isn't exactly kickin'. But what am I talking about I don't even know what brand my fuel filters are.
The best insurance is, no matter what brand you use because brands don't mean much besides making your decision easier, it to run a second inline filter up by the firewall.

Napa sells Wix style oil filters made by Dana.

On the box here, it says:

Manufactured for/Distributed through
NAPA Distribution Centers by WIX
Gastonia, NC 28054______DANA

This filter is the NAPA Gold 1347 (tall style that may not fit under the hood on the behive oil coolers, but works great in my REPU). It crosses over to a Fram 2849A. I'm not sure what the NAPA crossover for the Fram 3593A is though.

I think fram makes ok fuel filters (I think). And yes, the G12 is what the books recommend.
