N/a or TII?

Either way, you can't use a stock 2nd gen. flywheel on a 1st gen. motor because the rotor weights are different. The stock flywheel has the counter balance built in.

To install a TII gearbox, you need to get an aftermarket TII flywheel, matching clutch and automatic counterweight to suit your engine. This is due to the TII box having a larger input shaft. The clutch and flyhweel are also a larger diameter. You must also modify the shifter position and tailshaft.

I believe the n/a box will bolt up with your existing clutch and flywheel but you still need to address the shifter and tailshaft.

Nope, you need to use the SE flywheel, it's balanced for your engine. You wont gain anything trying to use the 2nd gen flywheel and they both take the same clutch. What's wrong with your flywheel?

The flywheel will "fit" but will not be balanced correctly for your engine.
The slave should be basicly the same, however the master is not.
If you have an 83-85 model, the clutch is already the same as the 86-88 N/A 2nd gen, regardless of whether you have a 12A car, or 13B. 83-88(N/A) uses the same clutch.
As previously mentioned, the tailshaft housing is different. The mount and shifter are where these differences are. You can swap the first gen tailshaft housing and speedo gear onto the 2nd gen trans, and eliminate any issues. You need to swap the speedo gear anyways, or your speedo will be inaccurate, might as well use the tailshaft, since you have to remove it to swap the speedo gear.

As was mentioned already, the flywheel must match the rotor weights. Mazdatrix has a great reference on flywheels and rotor weights. Their site is dead at the moment, but check out the FAQ section in the RX-7 section.
