Flooding/Bad Mileage
Flooding/Bad Mileage
Alright, so as stated before I've got a 12A street ported, stock Nikki carb, welded secondaries. That's about all I know about the carb, not sure if the guy who built it has done anything else.
The problem is, she runs stinkier than what I expected, like it smells like gas fairly strong often enough. More importantly, when I put the engine under load, sometimes I will pop it into neutral afterwards and she wants to stall out, and it will be flooded, even if it's only ever so little.
Other than that, I was expecting bad gas mileage (from what I've heard) but I am getting at MOST 185kms or so to a tank. I've been told that's pretty bad, even for a ported rotary. Any ideas? I've already checked the idle speed and air/fuel screws, and all vacuum lines seem to be in place.

185 kms thats horrible.....
I'm not sure about carbs but I'd get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator along with fuel pressure guage to adjust and monitor what is going on with your fuel delivery. Second to unflood your motor just put a switch on your fuel pump power wire which is located under the drivers side storage bin. It's the only plug that goes thru the floor. This way you can switch the pump off and turn the motor to clean it up and then turn the pump on to start the car again. Easier then taking the plugs out everytime. (best mod ever) plus it acts like a kill switch.
hope this helps
