Flat spot under acceleration? Help!
Flat spot under acceleration? Help!
Hey there everyone. So I have a 79 rx, with a 12a. My problem is, when I floor it, in any gears, the car pulls hard, untill about 4000 rpm, then has almost no power. I figured it might be a fuel delivery issue, but I replaced the filters, the pump was fine, and the carb seemed fine also, but I'm not %100 sure. It's getting really annoying because I need every last one of those 100bhp to make it up the big *** hill to my house.

Try safety wiring your secondary butterfly cam to the rod. They may not be opening right. I did this and it's like a turbo spooling up when I push the gas down further.
I bet the engine free revs fine to 7k rpm, but won't when it's under load. Most likely the exhaust system has collapsed and plugged. Set of headers and a pre-silencer will take care of that.
scott's probably right, but you may want to consider a carb rebuild as well. check the plugs, points and condenser, cap, wires, fuel and air filters, and coils just for good measure.
