Thumbs up Fixing up a 84 series 2

Hey, i'm new to this site today so watsup?

I've had my 1984 rx7 series 2 with 12A engine for about 6 years
and i'm just getting the time to start fixing it up a bit. Engine is
in good condition but is it worth replacing for a 13B or will that
just detract from worth because its not original?

Also exhaust is a bit worn (aesthetically) so is changing that ok?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of exhaust?

Any help would be awesome.
Cheers
Sam

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside.

You blokes have crazy valuations of rotarys downunder, so it's hard to say how much modding will affect value. Mods can bring high prices, but they aren't cheap.

Before you begin any mods, get the car up to spec with the mechanicals, then decide on how you plan on using it. DD, weekend cruiser, track car, straight line, etc.. Build off of that.

There is also an Aussie forum that's quite good, may get more local help through it.

In my sig line is an online link to FSMs, carb manual, etc.

Welcome man!
Plenty of Aussies on here so you'll be right at home.

13b is a nice motor.
If your 12a runs right though and you've got the time, some knowhow, this forum, and monies you can turn that 12a into a real beast that is still capable of being a DD.

A lot of people just want to swap up thinking the 12a is weak and going 13bt is the way. There are plenty of options though and the 12a itself stock is still lots of fun.

Make it pretty and run right before swapping motors. You may find you appreciate it as is more than you would if you cut it up and went through all sorts of hassles to build something. If you can enjoy it now don't wait six months to a year to finish a build. Build it up now and enjoy it while you do it.
