Fixing the gas tank in your SA

An FYI to those folks who have a 79-80 Rx-7 whose gas tank has been sucking up more dirt, grit and rust than gasoline. This helpful tidbit may also be useful for folks with 81 to 83 cars, though I did find out that 84-85 tanks will fit in those years. The biggest advantage to a 84-85 tank is that the pickup tube has a screen at the bottom. I took the "ganged" pipe set off of an '85 tank and successfully adopted it to my '80 tank (see picture, if I get it to load). You've just got to mount it very near the back edge of the top of the tank to avoid an internal baffle/support member within the '80 tank. Also, play it safe! I filled the tank with water before I cut the hole for the gang pipe set (using the gasket as a good template). I then drilled and tapped for the screws AND used aircraft grade sealant over and under the gasket - available at NAPA. Result - no more stalling due to grit and rust stopping gas flow!

Pic problem - want to see same I will email to you jameshull777@hotmail.com
