First RX-7, and want to go for 12's

Alright, I am going to be getting a first gen RX-7, it's an 84 with the 13b from an 85, has a fresh rebuild, new transmission, driveline, and rear end. The fuel system has all been upgraded and changed to steel braided lines, with a larger fuel pump. It has a free flowing intake, and a full exhaust. According to the seller the car, when the carb is tuned better, should be good for low 14's and 13's without much effort. My goal is to get into the 12's and eventually the 10's.

Here are my questions, what is the best carb setup for this 13b, and what would it take on this configuration to break into the 12's. The car was built for a 100 shot of NOS, but we have not figured out if we want to go down that path, or look into boosting with a small turbo.

What suggestions do you guys have?

I agree. To get into 12s you will need around 280-300hp.

Option 1 is to rebuild with a bridgeport and add a large IDA carb, and only drive the car at weekends and never worry about the fuel consumption or noise.

Option 2 is go forced induction with a large turbo and intercooler so you enjoy life every day.

In both cases you will need an upgraded fuel and exhaust systems,a performance flywheel and clutch, plus larger wheels and tires[16 225s would be OK], and possibly lowered suspension, better shocks and brakes.

A 12 second car doubles your fuel and insurance costs, while it becomes an advantage to learn how to rebuild your engine.

While there has been much work on your car, it still is only a 150hp set-up. To double the power is a significant increase in stress. One point, a 85 13B should be efi, why are you going carb as in the earlier 13Bs?
