First post with photos 85 GS
Greetings,
I have always found this forum and community a great resource over the years.
Presently I am tinkering away on a 85 GS. Poor thing was through some tough times from previous owners. Some ricer jerk pulled chunks out of the engine bay and crossed wires and vaccum tubes in hopes to do cheap performance mods. It is maddening.
Today I spent ripping out useless heat shields and left over pulleys. A lot more part pulling, plumbing plugging, rewiring, and upholestry.
Last photo was the beggining of the PILE OF SHAME. The previous owner was a chain smoker and turned the car into an ashtray. When I removed some carpetting and discovered a treasure trove of cigerate butts I knew then it was definately worth replacing all the rug.
I would like to keep the car as stock as possible. Just clean it up and operational.

actually, in the last pic, you pulled out oem parts my friend. looks like an exhaust manifold heat shield, and flex hose for carb warm up, eccentric pulley and large pulley washer for a/c, and a converter heatshield. the previous owner did not install those. they are factory installed. glad to see you are restoring the car. keep us updated with your progress. make sure look up fellow forum member trochoid and read throught the factory service manuals in his sig. they'll help you out a ton!!! welcome to the dark side!

Thanks mazdaverx713b
I am looking forward to running around town with the old 7. Back in the day I had a nice stock 84 GSL SE. I lent it to a friend to go to the corner store. Upon his return he parked the car until he "felt" the wheels hit the curb. My mistake to lend it to him. He managed to shove the oil cooler into the block and crack the housing.
On another note, I found an old pop can in the present RX-7. Sucker exploded from the heat and pressure. Lucky it was a diet pop. No real residue anywhere. Just light red coloring on the old carpeting.
