First Gen near death experience
You simply cannot kill these cars....I was living in flagstaff arizona. It was winter. I had my 81 rx7 parked happily in it's parking space when I hear a knock at door. It was this girl I knew from college. She tells me my car was just in a wreck. Now I'm thinking, huh? It was parked, how could this be. I ran outside, in the snow, with no shoes and looked for my car. It was gone! And I'm like "where the hell is my car?!" She takes me to this ditch down a hill from the parking lot. I look at my feet and I see the front end of my car peeking up out of the ground. My car rolled out of its parking space, down a hill into a ditch and hit a tree that was growing out of the ditch. The back end was totally smashed and the glass hatch of course was obliterated. A friend had AAA and had the car toed out of the ditch. The rex still ran like a champ! There was this huge horse shoe shape dent in the back end. All the tail lights still worked and I swear the car handled better than it did before the accident. The ONLY reparis I did to the car was some duck tape and see through plastic for the hatch (I was a poor college student). Now this is the amazing part....Without taking the car to a shop, without any repairs other than the duck tape and plastic...I drove the car from Flastaff Arizona to Delray Beach florida without any problems what so ever. I drove the car around for a month 1/2 before I got the rear end pulled out and a new glass hatch installed. That was almost 10 years ago. I sold car way back for 300.00. I've just purchased an 85 GS in reasonable condition. I feel like i've come home

Always yank the e-brake AND put it in 1st or Reverse, whichever is opposite of where the car is facing, when parking.

Yea, my 7's a tough sob...
In a parking lot... a stupid b*tch backed right into me... luckly it was her back bumper to my front bumper... GOD--the drivers now adays are terrible--they basically don't use the three things called mirrors
But, i endured the minor scratches and i was surprised that nothing inside the engine bay was shaken off or something... well-built

i had a neon try to cross the road when i was like 20 feet away doing 35mph.(idiot) mangled the rear quarter panel of the neon.... put a 3 inch hole in the plastic of my bumper. the body shop estimated $750 to fix
the neon driver gave me $750 and i got my new suspension!
i figured that some eibachs and tokicos would help alleviate my 'emotional distress'. heheh.... still haven't fixed that hole.
had a 90 grandam pull out in front of me (this time in my old 79)..... their entire trunk pointed skywards at a 60 degree angle, their exhaust was rammed into the ground(gotta love the seven's wedge shape), c pillars buckled. i got some scratches, a dented passenger headlight cover, and a cracked signal lense.
apparantly, sevens are a lot tougher that one would think. unfortunately, they must be semi invisible to everyone else on the road!

re:
Many years back I had a 73 rx3 sp. Got pulled over by a cop. Pulled into a parking lot and the only place I could park was on a hill. The cop pulled in behind me. I was asked to step out of the car. I told him I could not and before I could explain that it would roll back he yelled get out again. The parking brake did not work so I had a chock from a 79 rx7 (the one that comes with it to use when you change a flat) in the back floor board. I grabed it and jumped out of the car to shove it under the rear wheel. Looked up and he had drawn his gun. I sure am glad he did not have a jumpy trigger finger.
The moral of the story is make sure your parking brake works!

It worked well enough on my driveway.
Didn't hold in 3rd or up though. Get out and a good nudge would send it rolling.

the in between years were taken up by the ported SE. speaking of which... it got taken out in a wreck. some idiot had parked on a freeway off ramp at night(guess they were lost.... or stupid), and i had to zip to the emergency lane to avoid. unfortunately, the construction crews had left tons of debris in the e-lane. my pass. rear tire's sidewall got a 5 inch diameter hole ripped in it, starting me on a fateful fishtail. the SE headed straight for a concrete retainer wall, i angled it at the last second. nobody got hurt, but it shoved my pass. front tire well into the car. bent the frame. dented the entire passenger side. shaved chunks off the SE rims. and to top it off, after i'd pulled over and was changing the tire, the cops came. they said someone reported a 'drunk driver'. the only other person on that highway was those bastards parked in the freeway! the cop was super nice, and could tell i was pissed, not drunk. i told him the story and they started searching for that car. i don't think they got em but i'd love to find them in a dark alley someday
may the SE rest in peace. it still drove me home though... bent frame, wheels, damage, and all!
