So i was taking my project Rx-7 for its weekly ride and it starts smoking as usual...I look under the car and fire is coming out of the Catalytic converter..so I run over to the gas station and pour water as close as i could and put it out...WTF is causing this....I heard it might be to much Gas from the Carb or a clogged cat? Any Clue? I Dont want to blow up my baby!

 

How's the car running? If your timing is too far retarded, or if you have lost your leading ignition, things can get pretty hot.

 

Yikes!! Cant help you with the reason for your problem but water + burning gas is a bad idea. Keep a small fire extinguisher in your car just in case...

 

Definately use kentetsu's advice. Get a timing gun, and check it. Then get back to us.
