Fine metal pieces on the transmission drain plug?
I changed my fluid today, and there was extremely fine filings on the magnetic plug. is this just from normal wear, or is it bad, cause I know on mu old Can-Am Qualifier (dirt bike) Its fluid used to always have fine filings in it.
depends how often fluid is changed. If you change frequently and find filings, that's a lot of wear. If only every couple of years, it's normal - that is, after all, why the plug is magnetic - so you can see how much of the tranny is shredding itself over time.
Well I only recently bought the car. ( less than 2 months ago I think)So I don't know how often buddy changed it, but it was really dirty looking, so I assume not often. I don't think he did anything to the car while he owned it.

Extremely fine metal shavings might not worry me too much, as long as it isn't accompanied by noises and/or hard shifting. Mine had pieces of gears coming out of it when I drained it. It had also started making a LOT of noise which is what led me to drain the fluid in the first place.
