finally got around to removing the rats nest, and ...

Wow, what a difference. I was completely unaware that I wasn't getting vacuum advance on my dizzy. Also, every solenoid and valve was frozen shut, so nothing was working correctly. I replaced my air cleaner with a RB unit, and the difference is amazing. Throttle response is crisp, I must have picked up 10+ horsepower because of the vacuum advance, and it sounds much better. The only downside of this mod for right now is that I introduced a vacuum leak, so now my car won't idle, but that's going to be fixed late next week/next weekend (take the GRE on the 31st, so I'm cramming for that...).

Everyone should do this mod, NOW.
