Final Step Taken: Mission Accomplished

Exactly what the title says... I finally got my first Mazda RX-7

It's a 1985 GSL, Cream color with brown interior.

167,000 Miles on the car
~60,000 on the New Engine (non rebuild)

So after all this time i can finally feel a part of this group!

it's late, so i'll probably post pics either tomorrow or saturday.

Wow, Z-Beater! Ford made a V4 to put in the Pinto? Modern marvel!

Could you tell me what the color code is on that car, Fish? I see them all the time around here and simply thought that it was a generic local paint job. Didn't know they actually CAME cream colored.

Yep I used to have a site that had thousands upon thousands of 1/4 mile times. I searched for the slowerst 0-60 and it was the v4 pinto...I was lmao.

I don't know the color code yet, i'll have to do alittle research, but it is an original paint job.

I have two issues with the car.

#1 The rear hatch, left piston, the big black cap, that connects the piston to the glass, was broken. Basically the bolt stripped the inside so i was wondering if there is anything i could do to replace it. Or i'll just have to make something.

#2 The Radio scratches, and only the rear speakers work. Any **** i adjust causes the radio to get all weird and stuff, i was reading earlier that it may be caused by dirty contacts, would the cleaner work on the control sticks, and all the buttons? or do i have a much larger problem. (keep in mind this is a very clean car, and has been garaged most of it's life)

#3, some switches aren't working - Emergency Flashers(only left side goes off), Rear defroster.

#4 A/C is dead, probably needs a recharge.

Well i'm getting it Smogged tomorrow so wish me luck

Uh, no. The first Pintos (1971) had a gutless 1600cc inline four. This was quickly replaced by a 2000cc inline four, which was replaced in 1974 (to offset the effect of strangling early-70's emission laws) by a 2.3 liter inline four. This didn't help because the car remained gutless as ever. (Yes, I owned one once--- a green '74 with a 4-spd manual).

Interestingly enough, this same 2.3L engine was used in later Fords right up to the late '80s. Some of them ended up in the Ford Mustang SVO Turbo in the mid-80s and performed quite well.

Some industrial equipment used a V4, Bobcat loaders for example.
