A few transmission questions

Has anyone used this trans gasket/seal set from AZ? Does it hold up pretty well? If not where's a good place to get one for a decent price? Also where's a good place to get a pilot bearing for a 12a since AZ doesn't have them anymore?

Don't know about the trans seal stuff. Usually just replace the part that's leaking :O)

Pilot bearings come in clutch kits. Otherwise try http://www.mazdatrix.com/f-other.htm for the bearing and seal. Set ya back about 15$ it looks like with shipping.

Yeah I replaced my clutch and pilot bearing a little over a year ago but now my input shaft seal appears to be leaking so if I'm gonna replace it I wanna go ahead and replace anything else that may be worn. I figure I'll probably endup destroying the pilot bearing so I may as well get a new one. I'm also gonna go ahead and replace the trans mount while I'm at it.

Call around and see if you can find the Iron 2nd gen version of the bearing retainer. Doesn't wear out as fast and helps strength a bit. Then you'll need the bearing retainer gasket and input seal anyway.

Pilot should be fine if you're just pulling the trans. The disc will stay put against the pressureplate and flywheel and make the trans sliding back in super easy.

Hmm I'll have to see what that'll cost. Now with the FC bearing retainer should I get the FC seal too? I will leave the pilot in if it doesn't get tore up but I'll probably buy one just in case.

They take the same seal and same gasket. When I did mine, I used the seal and gasket that came with the rebuild kit.

Yes... Yes they do lol I don't know why I asked that. Now Mazda tri says the front cover comes with the front seal I'm assuming they mean the front gasket. I think I'm just gonna replace the front cover (and gasket), the "input shaft" seal, and the "output shaft" seal. Is there any thing else that I should check or replace? Cuz I really don't wanna have to drop the trans again anytime soon.

That would be sweet if that's all it is! I'll further investigate after work.

Should thread lock or some type of sealant on the drain/fill plugs? Cuz I recently changed the oil in my diff and it seams to be seeping but I didn't use any kinda sealant on the trans plugs when I replaced my clutch it never had an issue.

it should be dry, but a dab of silicon on the threads is fine and should fix it
