a few newb questions about timing and MSD.

Ok I'm really a second gen dude and haven't messed around with first gens very much but I've got a buddy that has a 82 half bridge ported motor with gsl-se rotors and TII housings. Anyways how do you stab that cas? Is it the same way as the second gen? I just line up the marks on the pully and then line up the marks on the teeth of the bottom of the cas and stab? Also if I wanted to hook up an MSD to the distributor would I keep the ignitors or would I remove them in favor of the MSD box. Thanks for any help you could give!
