fd's are fuel injected and need really high psi of fuel pressure to work. Your webber needs only a few psi of fuel pressure. I'd find a fuel pump for a carb application. Plus, carb fuel pumps pulse, fuel injection pumps give a constant flow of fuel.
It would certainly be easier to just use a good low pressure fuel pump. Regardless of the pump you use, you're going to have to regulate the pressure. I have used a stock SE fuel pump on my car with a return-style fuel pressure regulator, and I had no problems. When the fuel pump died, I replaced it with a Holley, though.

exactly what he said ^ I have a high GPM pump to use on my blowthrough nikki project with a returnstyle regulator. It will take my 80psi down to 3 if i want.

if i was running dual carbs, i think i would run 2 stock fuel pumps, 1 to each carb. since the IDA is just 1 carb, i think the external low pressure walbro looks good, its expensive, but it can mount on its side, and it'll fit like a stock pump.
the popular choice is the carter pump, its quiet, cheap, and flows ok, but IMO it doesn't fit the FB very well as it needs to be vertical, and its kind of tall. i've got one in my car, and i'm probably not going to change it, but if i had to do it again, i'd get the walbro
