It is not a big deal to re drill the rear for any pattern but there has to be enough of a bolt circle to clear the larger axles of the 8.8 diff. You would have to measure. My guess would be that 108mm would be too small. The center hole of your wheels would also need to be large enough to clear the center fitting. IMHO I would look for the ford explorer axles that came stock with rear disc brakes, narrow it an extra inch more than usual and mount your wheels on 1/2" adapters with hardened studs to change the pattern from the 5 x 114 to the 4 x 108.

If they still have any of these left I would get one, but I think they stopped making them but it would hurt to check. You still can only use this in the S3 84-85 rear end. You can also get a Kazz LSD for the S3 rear end.
I did found this 85' rear axle, only housing from gslse.i wonder now if i can use my 83 shafts,or there is a difference?

in 83' some of the cars have big axles and some have small axles. what i would recomend you do is buy some Moser axles from respeed. ask billy about getting them drilled to whatever pattern you want. im sure thats possible. id also find a kaaz or torsen diff from a miata, not sure what years, and throw that in as well.

if you wanted to stick with stock axles. im sure you could easily locate a set of stock SE axles in the states and have them shipped to you. actually, i may have an extra set of bare axles. im just not to sure how to go about shipping them and id have to check to make sure i have them.

....i'm confused now....the seller asked me if i need the one for the GSL with 4x110 bolt pattern or the GSLSE with 4x4-1/2 bolt pattern? They are different.
they both have the ''big'' housing and only the bolt patern is different?

That is correct. The only true difference is the bolt pattern. If you go with the GSL-SE, you will also need the brake hardware (backing plates, calipers, etc) or go with the ReSpeed kit.

Cant the rear axle be upgraded internally Instead of going to a Ford Rear. Like going to a German company for a diff, and stronger axles from somewhere?
