easiest to cut the entire tail light area from an FB and graft it into the SA body. But for the amount of effort involved, why? Easier just to get an FB.

I guess it just depends on how attached you are to your SA...

The time and expense would eat up any money saved in that 'amazing deal'

But it can be done

If you can't find an FB rear end to graft on to the SA, then you're in for a lot of welding and body filler. I can imagine it would be very hard to get the back valance panel to line up straight with the lights unless you're a relatively skilled panelbeater. The FB rear is significantly different to the SA rear.

I always thought the FB lights looked a lot better, but only in conjunction with the FB bumpers. The SA bumpers always looked terrible, they belong in the 70's whereas the FB bumpers drag the car into the 80's.

Plus, SA tailights are a security concern - you can unscrew the mounting screws, take out the entire light and reach into the rear hatch to pop it. Nice one Mazda!

i knew about being able to remove it and being able to open the hatch. the guy im getting the car from had someone do that and then open his hood and steal his holley carb and racing beat intake manifold. he suspects fowl play from friends though.

Jon the SA was a 70's car that body style in japan was only for 78, 79, and the first 3 months of 80, after that the "FB" body style came out (Kouki) which would make it the "80's" version

Well, whatever you decide to do, if the lenses of your SA taillights are pristine for goodness sake take care when meddling with them. Uncracked SA lenses are worth selling.

Maybe in North America. In NZ, we get them pretty cheap, and brand new. God bless our surplus of RX7 parts
