Hows it going? Usually people are a little more warm around here, *shrug* As far as a faq, if you have a question, use the search, someone has probably asked it before. Grats on your 1st gen find. Currently im up to 3 sitting in my drive way... one is getting parted out, but still. The first gen is a fun car, and not too bad to work on. Honestly if you have a question about anything to do with them, or anything you want to do with it. You can usually find the answer around here somewhere.

Welcome aboard Calvin! It's Sunday and this place is kinda quite on the weekends. As soon as everyone gets back to work it get's busy again. lol

Anyway, you say you come from the FC section, how much do you know about rotaries? What year and model 1st Gen are you getting? Have you read Felix's Own General Rotary Engine FAQ? If not, that's a good place to start on the basics. Good luck with your new FB!

Welcome, as mentioned before, the weekend the FB community is usually out and about. I think you'll enjoy owning and working on an FB. Best way I found to describe one is, "Go-kart on crack". ^_^ If you have any questions just feel free to ask, there are more then enough informative people in this section. As for not having a FAQ? Well, people here generally don't BS too much so there isn't a real need to have a FAQ.

hey thanks for the replies guys, my uncle said something about...79-80 he cant remember too well since it IS almost 30 years ago. what i do know is that it looks like it has a bodykit, my aunt says it is a very loud car, so maybe has an aftermarket exaust? im not too sure about things right now. i just know we made our deal and everything. what else do i know? the FB doesnt have a sun roof, it has gold/meshy wheels. its red (paint is chipped and looks pink-ish, after all...it has been sitting outside for soooo long.) so what can you guys tell me about 79-80 FB's? how much HP, what goodies did it come with like....LSD? good suspension? and it also says rx-7 in big black letters inbetween the tail lights...which i've never ever seen before..maybe you guys can tell me something about that?
thanks.

well if it says rx-7 between the tail lights, its probably not a 79 or 80. the licence plate sits there on those. so your lookin at 81 to 85.realy can't tell too many facts without knowing what year, whats on it, and so so. my 80 has an equal front and back weight, wich makes handling awsome. all i've ever owned was 79 or 80 so i don't know much about later ones, except that 82 had the lightest flywheel. so congrats and bet you can't wait to get it, tear into it, and drive it like hell. you might wanna change your name also.

Since it doesn't have a sunroof, chances are it's a GS or S model. Of course, being as old as it is, there is a fair chance someone put LSD on there. Jack it up, get someone to hold one rear wheel and see if you can turn the other. If so - score for you

I love the advanced warning on coming here too. In a few months, we'll look forward to helping you with your baby

Stock HP 101-105 with the 12a. Toss on a header and good exhaust and you're already getting better. The best thing about a nicely tuned FB is that with only 2300 pounds behind it, any increase in HP is really felt.

Oh, these little cars are addictive as hell.

And the FB forum folks (as you can already tell) tend to go ape **** on anyone talking v8 or non-FB

first things first.. find out what year it is. if the bumper is square and the licence plate is between the tail lights, then it's a 79-80. The 79-80 years are "SA" not "FB" It makes a big difference. The quickest way to tell if you have a LSD rear is to check and see if you have disk brakes. If you do, then there's a good chance it's LSD. If you could get a pic, that would help all of us out. also, get a pic of the instrument cluster. (way different on the 79-80 from the 81-83 or 84-85)

Most of us here are more than willing to help you out, but try and do a little reading up yourself... Feix's site (as mentioned before) is a GREAT place to start.

Easiest way to find out the year is to open the drivers' side door and look at the plate on the frame. You'll find out date of manufacture and a few other things.

Failing that, you can always post your VIN and get the information that way.
