I suggest buying carpet from another source than VB. I bought a set for my Z, took it back it was such cheap quality and had to be sewn. The front part came in 5 pieces and was not a one pice, pre-formed unit.

I ordered a pre-formed one from my local auto upholstry shop, along with an extra matching 2 yards of roll carpet for the back and lower door panels.

There are several online suppliers, that sell preformed units, along with matching roll stock if you want it.

I have a brown on brown 85 that I bought carpet for nearly 3 years age from 1AAuto.com. I have yet to install it but the quality looks good. They didn't have the specific colors for the 1st gens, so I picked out 3 that looked close from thier color charts and e-mailed them. They sent me a small sample of each in the mail before I made my purchase.

the upper interior roof liner is sagging at the rear window and the fron window, any suggestions?

I don't think adhesive will secure the fiberous backing.

Paint it while the interior is out.

Hopefully you won't need to pull the liner completely loose, use 3M 90 Adhesive, comes in a spray can. Follow the instructions, great stuff. I found mine in the paint dept. at Lowes.
