FB Calipers on an SA
I have a 1980 SA and was wondering if the Calipers for the FBs would work on it?
Instead of dealing with all the small clips and stopper plates in the SA style caliper if I can just swap out those and put in ones for from the FB that would make life much easier and me much happier.
Thanks!
Keith

Keith - the 80SA caliper should be similar in operation to the FB, I believe. It was just the 79 SA that had the old-version calipers that were a pain to swap pads in, etc I thought...?
To actually USE FB calipers is problematic unless you swap out the entire brake system because the FB uses a different thread-pitch on the hydrolic lines and caliper fitting...
Having said that lots of guys here have made the switch, especially if they wanted the FB suspension...

I thought that the '80 was exactly the same as the FB except for thread pitch.
Anyway I recently changed my '79 to the later style brakes. You'll need the bracket from a '80-85 12A chassis and a set of calipers from either a '80 or a FB. I chose the '80 because the coarse thread pitch matched my brakes lines. If you want to change out the complete system or make adapters, you can use the 81-85 brakes which are fine thread pitch.

Thanks guys, I still have to get the front suspension put back in my FB before I start playing with the brakes on the SA - this gives me a really good place to start though.
Thanks!
Thanks!
