fair exhaust welding prices?

My son's '82 blew up its muffler. I got a RB universal 2.5" muffler and presilencer and plan on taking that to a local muffler shop for install. No idea what is a fair price to expect to pay for that service. Pacesetter header will be retained, probably need a flange installed ahead of presilencer to mate with that? Probably reuse most of the rest of pipe even though most is still the 1 7/8" diameter, is that stupid? Smarter to redo it all with 2.5" or doesn't it matter much? Supposedly this thing has a mild street port done to it, pacesetter, cat and air pump and all that long gone. Don't want to spend much more on it but don't want to be penny wise and dollar stupid either.

PS was a bit surprised that both the pre-silencer and the muffler are straight through. I hope it tames the beast because it's really obnoxious right now!

I cant really offer pricing advice, but I will say you will be incredibly pleased with the new setup.

Its what I am running and it sounds incredible.

I had full mandrel bent cat back welded on at a shop in portland. Cost me 100k $

you mean $100 without the pretty little K right? LOL I've had full blown exhausts welded together for 250 .. soo.. i'd imagine anywhere between 100 and 200 .

harbor freight 130 dollar welder, 20 dollar grinder, 5 dollar wire wheel, 3 dollar disc, scrap pipe and practice and you can do it however you want, plus have a little welder for small projects here and there

the welder is cheap yes but it is pretty decent for exhaust pipe, what i recommend is find the diameter you want and go to home depot/menards and buy that sized galvanized conduit and use that for the straights and your grinder for the angles, make sure you wire wheel the zinc away though, definitely not good for the lungs
