Is there somewhere I can go and see what tint was offered from factory on our cars? I just picked up a rear hatch for my 84 RX-7 (no wiper) and it is bronze. My understanding was that only late model GSL-SE had bronze glass. This presents a slight problem as the rest of my glass has a blue tint.

I thought the bronze was only on GSL-SEs. My SA has a tint but I'm not sure what
color it is, maybe bluish, not sure.

 

My SA had a green tinted band across the top of the windshield. I believe the window sticker even mentions it, but I'd have to look again to be positive. The rear hatch has a speckled blue pattern.

if you look in the parts catalog, basically there are 3 windshields, the S model, which has no sunshade band, the late GSL-SE bronze tint (anything after 3/85, in black, white, silver, tender blue and maroon), and everything else.

for, say a door window, there is only the late GSL-SE and everything else.

or well if you're white glove concoursing it, the glass is all made by Nippon Safety, and will say Mazda, Mazda motors corporation, or Toyo Koygo, depending on when the glass was made. any other brand is incorrect, and points will be deducted.

 

It has Mazda Motor Corporations in the bottom left corner of the hatch. It isn't the Mazda style printing with the 3 piece Z etc I show on the blue glass hatch. (high resistance electrically) It has Nippon safety on it with various number and letter combinations.
I may have to tint all three rear glass pieces to hide the factory tint. I don't have much choice now.

 

I am the original owner of an '84 GSL. The correct tint is the bluish/grayish tint of the rest of your glass. See photos of my hatch here:

All the glass on my car is blue but of course replacing the rear hatch glass is an issue unless I tint the 3 rear windows. My question is did Mazda release a rear bronze glass without the wiper? That is what I received and I thought only the GSL-se (with wiper) had that tint.

 

the US parts catalog only shows 3 part numbers.

1482-75-890 w/rear wiper
8341-75-890 w/o rear wiper and
FA67-75-890 GSL-SE from april 85 production.

the JDM catalog only shows the 1482 and 8341

i swear we used to have a microfische that was US and Canada, but the one Mazda USA used for the electronic parts catalog isn't, its just US
