my 84 rx looks as though it has silver or chrome exterior window trim around the windshield and tops of the windows but it also looks as though they were painted over with balck paint. I am wondering if they were originially chorme or silver, or if they are black like the car and are just chipping. Second what is the best way to remove the paint so the sliver/chrome shines thoruhg or options for repainting?

 

i know my 84 gsl.. has the same problem.. i think it's painted black ( or whatever your car color is) and is just chipping away.. i'm not sure about the way to get it off.. i'm thinking paint thinner?

They come black originally, chip off as shown, and people like me want to paint over it with black again.
