Angry Exhaust system wont fit

So I have a complete racing beat street port exhaust system for my 79 gs with a 91 n/a motor. Simply put, the hangers dont match the stock placements and the center section is really close to the drive shaft, scared that it would hit it while driving. What am I to do and what is wrong!
Do I have to put the entire system to make the hanger match the body? Because last time I checked, the system should be fitting perfectly..

Is the muffler in yet?

I experienced a similar uh oh moment while fitting just the center section in the GSL-SE. I needed the muffler to properly locate the center section. I got a muffler in there but it still looks odd. The header needs to be fabbed while keeping the muffler level. Otherwise it tilts funny.

I think when everything is in there on your car, the header will keep everything lined up. Then use the included 5" long piece of steel to hang the front of the center section to the back of the tranny. you'll also need to replace any of the rubber hangers in the back if they're old and broken.

I already had the header on and bolted the header to the center section, have it held up by a jack and it still isnt lining up. I was thinking of bolting on the hangers first then rebolting it back to the header, but I'll wait for mroe suggestions.

I put the RB SP exhaust in my '83 and when I was mounting it, I also thought "Wow, that's darn close to the driveshaft." However, once I got everything mounted up it was fine. Putting in the muffler section really does help to line that midle section up, like Jeff said. IIRC I put on the tranny hanger last. The tailpipes do sit at a very slight outward angle though but its not really noticeable unless you're **** retentive like me.

P.S. - Kiss that silver paint that's on everything past the header goodbye. Mine was flaking off the first time I got it up to operating temperature. I don't know why RB even bothered to put paint on there.
Good luck!

So I should put on the muffler, then center section... then bolt up the CS to the header?

The system came with a 5" bracket to connect the center section to the back of the tranny?! When I bought the system from someone, it didn't come with it. Do you think mazdatrix or racing beat will sell me the part seperately?

Druken,

If you're talking about the piece in the following picture, PM me with your mailing address and I'll send it to you on Monday. I have an 83 (with full Racing Beat exhaust system) and didn't use it, so I don't need it.

Well I just got the bracket from DublyDurty, thanks again, and well... this is what I noticed. The tranny exhaust mount looks too far away. Does it need to be flipped around? Its weird because I didn't mess with the exhaust system till now and I think it came like this stock.

It looks kinda bent. I don't have an RX-7 here to look at so it's just a guess.

Am I mentally challenged or something? I'm getting the worst of luck while working on my 7... so if someone can give me some info if I am correct about the tranny mount that would be great. Thanks
