Exhaust + Smoking

Hey Guys,

Is there anyway that the exhaust having huge holes in it and being rusted out might cause a lot of smoke (foul smelling, like fuel) or do you think its just the injectors screaming time to be rebuilt?

Exhaust has nothing to do with it. I would start checking the usual suspects that control your mixture. Mine is not fuel injected, so I can't give you the specifics to check. Look for Longduck or RX7Doctor, I'm sure they can get you started in the right direction.

Yeah if there's a leak before the catalytic convertor then that would cause those fumes. You might have a bad O2 sensor as well.

Ok,

Looked into it;

1) Still has the OEM tag with a date on it from 86 on the oxygen sensor (I should take a picture , it's really faded though).

2) The hole is on the catalytic converter, there is a big *** hole on the back of the muffler too.

So,

Should I change the o2 sensor? I tried to change it before but couldnt get it off (with a cheater bar and a impact gun) so I guess I'll have to take it to an exhaust shop.

oh man, if you don't have a torch you don't have a chance. you gotta get that puppy cherry red and then creeeeeeeeeeeeek it'll come out with a wrench. Impact would be breeze Once it's hot.

also how did you attempt to remove that without damaging the wires? im guessing you just snipped them with the intent of changing it?

Auto Zone - O2 Head that's got a split going down the middle so the wire can come out of it when you take it off.

Yeah I have one of those. Isn't the edge on the split part like knife sharp? I nearly cut my finger off when I picked it up.
