Exhaust Sleeves, do i need them?

i saw some mention of exhaust sleeves in the bridgeporting thread, and now i'm curious.

these are the things that were in the exhaust ports when i took the thermal reactor off... and they fell off when the thermal reactor was removed... one was retarded looking, and the other just looked like a sleeve.

when i get my RB header, do i put these in? which goes in which rotor and in what orientation? See them in attached pic (bad pic, it was for another purpose)

No, you do not need those, they are just a part of the thermonuclear..ermm.. thermal reactor

Correct me if i'm wrong, but all you should need is the header, gasket and ACV blockoff plate which are all sold separately.

They're talking about the sleeves in the housings, not the TR ones. Removing them leaves a gaping hole, causing problems with exhaust velocity and sometimes heat in the area that the sleeves used to cover. I don't think they are easy to remove like the TR ones.

As a side note, the orientation of the TR is important, but who really cares since the TR belong in the garbage anyways.

So, how to your port the exausht without removing the sleeve?

Maybe I should read the Bride thread first...

How are you going to port them out of the car?

Usign the template you have to leave the sleaves in the housing and scribe yoru port then cut it back.

You DONT take the sleaves out of the car,it willmake it run hot cause the metal holds most of the heat from the exhast before it hits the aluminum housings..

A lot of engine builders do remove the sleeves as it gives them that much needed extra port timing. Probably more for high hp turbo engines though.

I know some people that have done it also,BUT them are not daily driven street engines,Most shops will tell you toleave them in for a street driven car.
