exhaust setup... any problems i might have?

this is what i plan to run... and am well on my way for...

-ceramic coated RB header
-catco cat (2.25")
-getting a shop to bend me up a 2.25" catback piping
-flowmaster muffler.

does anyone know of any problems (right off or long term) i might run into? also, any suggestions for another muffler? i want something small, quiet, and not with a 6" in dia, maybe around 3-3.5.

will this be rediculusly loud? if so, and suggestions to fix without restricting flow?

Good call. I terrorize the old people in my neighborhood all the time. (well, my mom anyways

2.25 is plenty fine. I have the dual exhaust, with a 2.5" overaxle, 2.5" in, dual 3" tips, straight through muffler. Its very loud.

What you could do, which wouldnt be too much of a problem at all, is moutn some presilencers in the center section of your piping. That would work quite nicely.

No PERSONAL experience with flowmaster, but i have had a lot of people reccomend it to me (people who want quiete and fast cars.)

This is for a stock engine right? any upgrades down the road? Porting, super/turbo charge, etc? That should be all the performance you ever need, for stock.

I'm no expert tho.

Does RB make a ceramic coated header? Not sure.

I dont think it will be very loud, but I also dont consider my setup very loud. Stock manifold, gutted stock cat and 2.25'' pipe back to an Apexi N1. So its basically straight pipe back to a straight thru stainless muffler.

thats what i was going to do, gut my cats and get a custom 2.25" catback with a muffler, but i decided to start saving for a header and go ahead and do everything at once. i just need to know if heat is going to be a problem under the car or in the engine bay. stuff like that

**** no body beats me on loud. Racing beat header into 2.5 straight through to the big sound suppressing 18 inch glass pack. This thing is louder than loud. I have been heard at over 2 miles away.

Yeah, you got me beat:

Racing beat header into dual 2" piping, 1.5 foot presilencer on each pipe, 2.5" overaxle w/ straight through muffler. I love how mine sounds.

How does yours sound, is it very harsh?

And onepointone. You will not have to worry about heat. The lower heat shield will probably be remvoed (mine rattled like hell anyways), just dont park over any dry grass that would touch the boottom of the car, you'll be fine.

Later

I'm most likely going to get 2.5 inch stainless in my car, (I don't think Chris [guru] will let me run any else!) and I could get the header ceramic coated at a place not too far from here. Could be interesting....I wont run a muffler at the dragstrip on my first run with it and I want to see the officials Crrrrrrrrrrrriiiiing!!! MWuuoooHOOO HOO HAAAA HAAAA!!!! Rotary Power baby, yeah!

Just did my exhaust over again!! Now it goes as follows.... header to a 2.5 inch Brullen resonator, then to a catalytic and finally to my vibrant muffler. STill kinda load but much quieter than ever!! I'm loving the sound of silence inside the car!!

My stereo seems louder!!

You may want to consider a presilencer in addition as the setup you describe will be pretty loud. Those flowmaster mufflers are fairly loud, and the cat won't muffle the noise that much.

RB doesnt ceramic coat their headers, they chrome plate them for aesthetics now. You can probably call and ask for an unfinished one like the way they used to come, then send it off to HPC or Jet Hot.
PowerPulse muffler is hands down the quietest muffler that you can get and that will last, mine is over 10 years old.
If you decide to go with anything else, it will certainly be higher flow since if it doesnt have stainless steel packing it will most likely be fried. You may want to line up 2 mufflers after the cat if you go with a Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Dynomax, etc...
