Exhaust Resonance

Guys, search wasn't very helpful but I'm sure some of you can give me some input.

It's an 85 SE, RB header, Catco hi-flow cat, Garland Tx muffler.

I've had my local muffler shop install a glasspack/silencer right after my cat but with minimal results.

I've got this absolutely HORRIBLE resonance at ~ 2k rpm and around 35-40mph. If I let out on the gas, it stops. The car didn't always do it this badly but the vibration/resonance has gotten more intense with time.

Any suggestions on what part to change to get rid of this aggravation?

Thanks

If you really are hitting the system's resonance, then your exhaust system will surely fail soon. If youre glasspack/silencer is not stainless steel, you can kiss the internals goodbye and expect the sound to get worse. A rotary's heat will eat anything that's not SS. Besides the header, cat, and silencer, is everything else stock? If they are still stock, that may be your problem.

sounds like a cheep glasspac has melted. with glass packs you need something that can stand the heat. do a search there have been many post on this as of late. also the lenght of the pac style muffler is how you adjust its sound to your liking. too short too loud

The intense vibration started BEFORE th glasspack. And yes, I'm sure the gp has melted by now. It slowed the vibration down for only a few driving hours and then it returned like before.

I'm thinking about going back to my stock manifold with Bonez pipe. That setup I liked and had decent power too.
