Question exhaust question

hi i was driving my 84 gsl one day and i heard a somewhat loud noise and then metal draging, i pulled over and looked underneath and there is a small metal line somewhat flexible that broke off the cat. dose this mean its clogged up? i wanted to just rid of my rats nest and air pump should i just do that?

That is the line that supplies air from the air pump system to help with lowering the emissions out the tailpipe. It raises the temperature of the catalytic converter to burn off the excessive HC's or unburned fuel.

If you are removing your emission equipment then you need to remove the catalytic converter or the converter will be damaged.

so could i just replace it with piping or hollow out the cat?
