Exhaust Question

I am looking to install a performance exhaust system on my stock 1984 GSL. I want to install the RB Road Race Header and then do custom from the header back. I am thinking of going 2.25” id on the balance of the pipe into some sort of muffler. I am looking for input from anyone out there as to what I am purposing. Is this a feasible set up? Do I need pre-silencers or anything like that? What is recommended in a muffler? As far as, emissions is concerned I only have to go through one more test and she will be exempt. I have to do this test this month so after that No air pump and a nice custom exhaust :p

Thanks in advance

Matt

If you run a straight pipe from the header to the muffler your car will be LOUD!! Are you driving this thing on the street? What about the catalytic converter? Do you need that in Canada? As for mufflers I like the way a Flowmaster sounds on a rotary.

Cats and Rats nests are only needed in some provinces. Ontario is definitely one of them. Quebec (luckily for me) is not

I can go completely emission free... except ONE thing... to get the car saftied and on the road the first time, the whole system has to be intact. No emissions quality testing, the stuff just has to be *there*. After that, free reign

The Racing Bleat presilencers work well, and give the exhaust a lower, more pleasing tone without a lot of the metallic ringing sound. They also last a long time. I don't know exactly how long, because I've never worn one out. Pretty much the same goes for the RB mini-presilencers, except they're a bit louder and raspier.
Both models are rather expensive, but definitely worth it in the long run.

Thanks Guys,

As for the emissions testing, after 20 years of age the car does not have to be tested again unless I sell it so I can run with out the cats

Thanks again
