i have a 1981 12a rx7 that has had the EXHAUST SYSTEM HOT light on the dash cluster light up for over a year. it lights up every once in a while ..what is this telling me.i know that this never occured until my car was repaired for smog...please help????????

 

There is a temperature probe (sensor) that is underneith the passager seat. Pull the seat and pull back the carpet.
It is there to tattle-tale on the exhaust converter if it gets to hot. Thus giving you the 411 on the cat converter is getting to hot and catching your car on fire.

Yep, thats why like i said just remove them. unless you still pass smog and your due for one.

I went to the other yard where the SE was and pulled the diff, but i couldnt pay for it not enough $$ may be tomorrow, if i can find it.
