Exhaust Help

Im wanting to upgrade to a RB header. I have everything stock, and a gutted cat with a little Leak. Its pretty loud, with a new header how much louder with it be? is it worth the money the get the presilencer? if i get the presilencer with it be bolt on? should i spend the extra 300 for the muffler or will my stock not matter? Any and all info on this will help, it seem i have 2 gaskets or bolt part on my system now with is at the end of the old header and the start of the muffler thanks so much just need the advice

If you get the RB header single collector into just an RB muffler it won't sound all that loud at all. Its not the best sound IMO, but its better.

i've only heard good things about the presilencer. you can go with the RB muffler or many people, including me, have gone with magnaflow

how does the presilencer hook up to the stock system and will the stock muffler hinder performance? will i need a welder? is the precilencer considered a "cat"?

Whoaaa there cowboy. Alright, let's see:

-The regular RB system goes like this HEADER-PRESILENCER-stock connecting pipe-MUFFLER. Yes, the stock muffler will hinder things a little bit but pretty much all the gains are coming from the header and the removal of the cats.

-No welder needed, unless you're going with something else as a presilencer

-A presilencer is like a muffler, it's there to quiet the car down and give it a nicer tone. A "cat" is short for catalytic converter, which is there to reduce nitrogen oxides and convert carbon monoxide, etc.

-Pros: Everything. Cons: Price. The RB muffler is there to quiet down the car some more. Gains here are pretty minimal.

The presilncer is designed to bolt up to the stock pipe, in fact, that is the only thing RB doesn't sell. The presilncer is NOT a cat, so if you have to pass smog, forget it.
As for the stock muffler, it may be a little more restrictive than the RB unit, but not much. I doubt you would notice much difference between stock and RB muffler. If you want the least restrictive muffler, the magnaflow is your best bet, but it will be louder.
