exhaust hanger question
I have a a '79 and the exhaust is hanging really low. I noticed the hanger near the transmission is broken/missing. What is left is a bracket that hangs down from the body(or the trans, can't remember which). The bracket appears to have a nut welded to it. The nut has what is left of a bolt in it; the bolt is broken off.
I'm going to remove the bracket so I can get the broken bolt out. Does anything go between this bracket and the exhaust like a hanger or does it bolt directly to the exhaust? I was going to bolt it directly which would pull it up an inch or two, but I'm wondering if there should be a hanger.
I checked the FSM but could not find a good description or picture of the exhaust to tell what should be there.
Thanks all.

as my parts book illustrates it, the hanger bolts hard to a flange on the pipe - no rubber hanger in between
FWIW, the part number for the broken bracket is:
8871-40-710, called "bracket"
major load-bearer so hopefully you can get a replacement!
