exhaust gasket melting??

HI everyone
The exhaust gasket between my cat and my header connection recently burnt off, so i bought one at c.a.p and in like a day or two it wasback to loud again, so i went under the car and found there was a gap between my flange where the gasket was and my bolts were loose. it had melted off ,and all that was left was a thin sheet of metal that is inside the gasket. Can anyone help me out on finding a good heat resistant gasket at an auto parts store or online? i know my rx7 isnt the only car that the exhaust is hot because they all are. thanks everyone.

just get some generic header gasket and cut your own. Should just be a few bucks for a sheet

If you want to get a set of gaskets that you will never have to worry about, have someone make you a set of annealed copper gaskets.

I actually got a set a while back from a forum member, they were like $8 each. ScrapFC was the forum member name.

Mine has been holding up just fine. I'm only using it as a header gasket, but I don't see why it wouldn't work elsewhere on an exhaust flange.

Make sure you use the quality high temp stuff
