Question exaust questions

i no alot of these might seem rather simple but i have a question for you guys, i am welder but have never made my own exaust before, what type of welding should i use, mig, tig , dual shield? and what type of piping should i use, i read somewhere on here a while ago that the biggest you wanted to go is about 2.5" is that right, cus i was thinking about puting on a 3 " and also do i have to have a pre silencer? and can i just bolt onto the exsiting hangers or do i got a weld new ones on?

I've made my own exhaust before, and its actually quite easy. I used a regular wire feed mig welder, 220volt, and just put everything together from pieces cut from mandrel bent U bends. The biggest I would suggest on a stock engine is 2.5. After that, it doesn't help any and the piping is more expensive and harder to run around the axle. Stick with 2.25" piping and you should end up with a nice exhaust. As for the presilencer, use a 4" round Magnaflow muffer, about 18" body length. For the hangers, just put new ones on. Its easier and you can build the exhaust to suit the car, not the original hangers, which should make things easier.
