A guide on how to modify the Nikki carb to fully use the stock-port 12A engine.

Grinding and such is needed right? Like where, how ect.

have you guys thought about putting together, in sets.
different size,or modified jets for stock port, street port etc. and how about the shape(s) of the venturi's. i guess that would mean R&D casting your own shape
if thats possible ?? I know on american V8's with a 4V / holley combo a 'riser' section is sold in i think 11/2 inch and 2 inch. it bolts between the base plate and the intake..anyway it adds midrange type tweeky torque.
have you guys ran that by on your bench ? it's an idea.

We are currently working on developing venturi alternatives for the stock Nikki housing. Casting proceedures are a bit difficult as there are different shrinkage rates for different materials that we could use.
In the mean time, I'm working on some new profiles for the existing Venturis. The stock venturis are far from ideal, but there's alot of meat on them to shave them down to close.
As far as fuel jet packages, the Holley 10-32 jets they sell as air bleed jets are the same as the fuel jets.
At this point, I don't think we want to start selling Holley jets to make 50 cents on each one.

We suggest purchasing them at Napa, ect, as they will be cheaper than Mazda Trix.

My personal opinion is that it would be prohibtively expensive to do that. How many guys will buy a $600 Nikki? I still believe the best/cost effective way to go is using the existing components.

The Sterling Carb is for stock port motors. The Banana Carb will be for SP's (maybe even a BP flavor) when its ready.

Yes, we know you're talking about spacers.
We'll get to testing all that as well. Right now we're trying to focus on modding the carburetor to it's full potential, and manifold porting.

They also come in different materials, also different configuations (4 hole, dual plenum, single plenum, shear plate) all of which change the characteristics of the carb. Thats something more to be tested on a live engine. The bench wont show what effect it has on torque curve, power band etc. But its on the list for eventual development.

I don't know this stuff, question. The distance of the intake from carb. to port has to be a certain lenght ?,, because of the timeing ?? i don't know !! could such a spacer be used under the nikki. That spacer being the open plenum ?? that being easyier then to try to match the butterfly size. I wonder how or if that would work ?
Plus it's a direct bolt on deal.

You should read Paul Yaws tech articles on his site.

Its alot more complicated than that. The simple answer................ Just keeping the holes/dimensions the same........ Longer will yield more low end torque, shorter will move the torque peak up in the porweband. Hence why Lake cities mainfolds make great hp up high, but suck down low. Changing the design to another style will require re-calibratring the carb for the new vacuum signals the fuel circuts see.
