Each vehicle has a VIN (vehicle identification number), then major drivetrain components have an identification number. As I understand it, these chassis component numbers should all match on a factory-fresh car.

When I got Pamela appraised she earned high marks in part because all drivetrain numbers matched, meaning I had the original engine, tranny, etc from the factory, a highly desirable trait for a concourse classis

the engine number will match mazda's records if available. for example jm1fb331xd0731708 got engine # 12a2312667 and the evaporator is # 131724.
or jm1fb332xf0905116 got engine #21896. go to a dealer and have em print a warranty report, it might have the #'s on it, it may not. short of contacting mazda japan i dunno where else you would find em
