well you do need to search, but to point you in the right direction, I am doing this swap as well, so if you look for some of my threads you'll be sure to find out just about everything you need.

Got Boost?
Wow, that was open ended...... details, details !!
As for info, there is absolutely tons of it, starting at the sticky at the top.... obvoiously geared for the turbo version, but none the less valid for a 89 13b. The thing that will be lacking is those extra headaches, that come with high pressure (blood and air).

point you in the right direction...
- 13b to 12a car motor mount from racing beat.
- it will bolt up to your tranny, so drivetrain is fine unless you plan on 300 to the ground..
- GSLSE oil pan.
- 12a front cover to bolt to motor mount
- if you want EFI, lots of wiring, if you dont, i hear not as much
- fuel pump from 2nd gen
various other things. but thats the basics. do the search and youll find more.

OMG this thing completely erased my post when I hit reply......
But first you CANNOT use a second gen fuel pump on a 1st gen as the second gen's have internal pumps and we have external ones.
Well anyway.
Again I am doing the EXACT same swap so I'll give some info. (89 13b N/A)
First it matters if you efi or carb. There will be alot less work going carb. You probablt can make more power going carb but there are alot of benifits to EFI. I'm going EFI (a COMPLETE 89 swap), I'll give you what I have learned thus far.
The motor will bolt into your car no problem. You can keep your current transmission. Just remember to use the RB mounting plate and a SE oil pan.
You will need to use a 12a or a 13b cover (from a GSL-SE). The problem you'll run into is the metering oil pump. Unlike the years before it, the 89+ uses a electric metering pump and will not bolt to your SE or 12a front cover. You cannot use a mechanical one instead because if the ECU does not detect the 89 one, it will throw the engine into "limp mode" and you wont be able to get above 3000RPM.
What I did is I got a modified 12a front cover that has holes drilled and tapped so the 89 metering oil pump will bolt on.
The next problem will be the wiring. I am doing a write up as I go along with my wiring so this should help ALOT. But basically you need to compair teh to wiring diagrams and figure out what you need and dont need on the 89 harness and bridge a few connections yadda yadda yadda...
Is this going to a GS or a GSL? If its a GS you may want to look for a GSL rear end as they can handle more power.
You are going to need to get some high pressure fuel lines. I just got them off of a wrecked GSL-SE. You are going to need an EFI fuel pump and probably the best solution is to get a pump off of a GSL-SE as they are cheap (when USED), I've never heard of one going out, and they will pump enough for this application. Also look if you can find the GSL-SE fuel filter bracket so mounting the fuel filter will be alot easier.
Some other little things I've found out:
you are going to reuse your 12a oil inlet. The second gen one will not work with the SE oil pan. If you get an oil baffle plate it needs to be for an SE.
Your clutch and pressure plate needs to match your year of engine but the release bearing needs to match the transmission.
You may have allready known the last two things but those were the questions i got answers to most recently.
If you need any more help PM or e-mail me. have fun!
