Engine Clean up ?

New to fixing up RX7's. Going to be cleaning up the engine compartment today. I have simply sprayed down other cars with degreaser and hosed them off while keeping the distrib dry. Is there any extra precautions I should take with the RX7?

Thanks, Rb

Use some Simple Green, shop towels and elbow grease. It will take a few hours to do the whole bay but it's worth it in the end. Did this in the summer and it was a night and day difference. Just try not to spray the electrical components and you should be fine. Have you done the rats nest removal yet? That will make cleaning up alot easier once all that junk is out of there. Check www.mazspeed.com for the rats nest removal tutorial if you haven't done it yet.

Thanks for the info. I went to the mazda speed link but did not see anything. What is it under? Where is the rats nest?

Thanks, Rb

This thread tells how I went about cleaning 20 years of dirt and grime out of the engine bay. It can take a lot of work, but is well worth the effort. It shows that the car is cared for.
