engien bay prep | tII swap
This should be my engine bay..
Other that the obvious.. clean all the grease off!!
What should I do to get this ready for my tII swap? (I will be going with a S5 setup, hideing the electric omp in the dash and running with premix) my ultimate goal is to beat my brothers '93 rx7 thats running low 11's high 10's not sure what hes got)
I did some searching and came up empty.. everything seems to focus on the basic **** to use.

Take pics, then strip everything out of the bay and prep what is going back in. Clean, sand, paint, powdercoat, whatever. Prep and repaint the bay itself. If you want it to last, have the parts professioally painted or powdercoated, rattle can paint will not cut it over term.
What else do want to know? The subzero can go as can the charcoal canister and ac, it you don't want them.
I usually leave the wiring intact so I don't have to fight putting it back in.

I was thinking of removing the ac houses, charcoal canister, subzero start assist container, most of those wires on the right side, the fuel lines, the gastank (i got a gs), not sure if I need any of the wiring that comes out TO the engine bay. I am going to get a tII with harness. I don't want a mess under my hood when I start to install everything.
How many noticed the placement of the horn? lol (yeah i was me.. i need a horn quickly so i can pass inspection)
Can I remove the left side harness? I know the exhaust has to go. What about the heater lines?
Should I remove the dash?
Its the weekend.. I need to get something started.. i still get a case of corona to drink.

There is a thread or link floating around here that shows the wiring changes needed to mate the TII in a 1st gen. I wouldn't pull out any wires until you have a thorough understanding of it. You could probably remove the ecu and engine harness. I don't think the dash needs to come out for the wiring changes.
When i do a job like this for myself, everything except the wiring comes out and gets refubished. If it bolts on it comes off. That way eveything is fresh and new and I don't have to nickle and dime my time later on doing a piece here and there. This is also the best time to address the rust that is usually found under the battery and tray and the brake/clutch reservoirs.
