emergency brake problem.

hey guys i know someone will say search so fyi I did. I searched but what i found were a lot of emergency light staying problems. thats not my case.

my problem i am having is the emergency brake releasing. I have an 1985 gsl 4 wheel disc and i just changed the brakes on it and got everything back together. once i got it back together and got in to drive the car, the e-brake handle is all the way down but the e-brake is still holding the car in place.

Does anyone have any sugguestions? is there something i may have done wrong that is pretty common for people to do on these cars?

There is an adjustment on the ebrake handle. The ebrake cover needs to come off first.

so to adjust it, do i just turn it left or right? i've never had to do that before when changing brakes so this is my first time on this car. I dont want to screw it up.

I had to do the same when replacing the e-brake cables on a friends gsl. I believe righty-tighty lefty-losey applies here.

If it's the same as the 80 handle, the nut is normal-threaded. A thin-wall deep socket works best, or you can use a straight-blade screwdriver. The end of the cable actually theads into the center of the nut; use care that you don't undo it completely.
