Question embarrassing coolant sensor question

Does the coolant level sensor on top of the radiator just screw out?
My coolant idiot light started beeping the other day (after I topped off my radiator and burped it following some problems) and while I was checking the coolant sensor I noticed it seems to be able to turn indefinitely in either direction. Later on I realized that it was cracked and shooting off steam. The (non-existent) wire on it was also sheared off lol.
So, I plan on getting a new one and I'm not entirely sure how to pull it haha. The manuals don't really say specifically how either and I wasn't sure if the sensor was even more broken than I thought and unscrewable (or if it was just normally like that). I sound like an idiot haha.
Fortunately the coolant light/beeper will die off eventually (especially if I make a hard left) so it's only slightly annoying. Oh yeah, the cap on my resevoir tank is also cracked so I need to replace that as well.
Both the resevoir tank and coolant sensor goes for nearly 50$ each from mazdatrix which seems a lot more than they should be, is there anywhere else I can find them cheaper? Or perhaps just a replacement cap for the tank instead of the whole thing? Please tell me I don't need any special tools to remove the coolant sensor hehe. Thanks guys.

Hehe it's been missing since I've had the car. Never had any problems with the light coming on or the radiator until recently so I didn't bother. For a while I wasn't even sure if there was supposed to be a wire but I looked closely and there was a stringy bronzed discoloration on the sensor. So yeah, I don't have a wire to solder on it haha.
