Question Electrical Questions.

Okay, a neighbor of mine and I went down to my mother in laws house where my car is currently being stored. We pulled the alarm system out, as it seems to have been damaged from my stupidity (Earlier post about hooking up a battery backwards, need I say more?). Now, it seems that the car want to try to turn over, but isn't quite getting there. My neighbor tested the battery, and it has 12.5 volts. The cables themselves only seem to be getting 11.1 volts. He seems to believe that if I change my connectors and then fully charge the battery that the car should turn over and start. What would be the forums general concensus on this? It seems like it is worth a try, but do you think that other gremlins may be at work here?

Thanks for all your help!

Well it's a pretty vague question. But, I think your neighbour might be on the right track. Give it a go and if it doesn't start come back with more details.

If the battery is putting out 12.5 vold under no load that could easily go down well below 10 under load, meaning that the battery could still be dead. The battery voltage is normally 12.7 volts i think under no load. Maybe try a battery which is definately fine or jump starting it, no harm in trying. If not check the battery cables visually for damage and heat when try to start the motor.

Just what i would do first.
